Carles Rúa is an industrial engineer (with speciality in industrial organization). His professional activity has been developed in the fields of logistics and the management information systems, where he has acted as a free lance engineer and for a consultancy companies. Nowadays, he works for the Port Authority of Barcelona as Head of Innovation. In the university field he has carried out his teaching activities in the Department of Business Organization of Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (BarcelonaTech) for more than 25 years. He is also director of the Master Executive in Lean Supply Chain Management (BarcelonaTech) and teacher of the Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping. He is co-editor of PIerNext, an blog related to port innovation.
